GOALS OF THE PROJECT:
  • Training dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians as lecturers each year who can work effectively in a free market environment.
  • Introducing new technologies, materials, and management techniques by presenting the clinic as an effective model. While the former Soviet dental delivery system is in the process of breaking down, dentists and officials have little idea how to address this problem. The training clinic can show them a model for them to adopt or modify.
  • Supporting low-income population of the surrounding community by having them as patients and by giving them free dental service in the training clinic. As the government has begun to privatize all government dental polyclinics, it cannot provide dental service to its people any more. This especially affects low-income population like senior citizens, orphans, disabled, etc.
  • Holding seminars and evening continuous training classes in the clinical dentistry area for retraining of local dentists.
  • Giving dental service to expatriate workers. It has been very difficult for expatriate workers to have needed dental treatments or even routine check ups. Many of them had to fly to their home country to have dental service. The clinic can provide primary dental treatment to those in need and help them to save their time and money.
  • Dental prevention programs in local schools, done once a week by the trainees (both dentists and hygienists).
  • Making the program financially self-sustainable in about 5 years’ time by creating a local income through our non-governmental organization.
  • Equipping national staff fully for their leadership in training and management of the program.
